The Rock has been on a roll since its conception and birth. Pastor Angelo and Kim Fleece envisioned a local church that put their Christianity into practice. Jesus did not say those who hear my words are on the rock. Jesus said, “everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock (Matthew 7:24).”
In the winter of 2001, a core group of 12 people began to meet in the basement of Pastor Brian and Rose DeRita’s house. The Dream was to see a local church that did the natural and allowed the Holy Spirit to do the supernatural. After about a year in homes, as well as a short season in a small city downtown church, The Rock renovated a portion of an old Kroger’s grocery store and publicly launched its services in September of 2002. Since then, The Rock has been blessed with healthy, consistent spiritual and numerical growth.
In the spring of 2009, we completed our new building right next door to Anchor Bay High School. Presently we are privileged to offer three Sunday morning services (8:30, 10:15, and 11:45). The Rock’s passion for kids and students ministries has been one powerful reason for the buzz and blessings encountered in the Anchor Bay area. The spirit of authenticity and strategy of radical balance are some of the strengths of our church community.
The Rock’s culture is not a congregation of cookie cutter Christians! The church is a body of believers with lives transformed by the truth of Jesus Christ! Outreach and service are major expressions of being Jesus to the community. At The Rock we will always dream big, because we serve a big God!
Reaching, raising, releasing and reproducing a community for Christ in a creative, authentic and supernatural way.
